Friedrich Nietzsche
Human, All Too Human II
The Wanderer and His Shadow
297 Do not wish to see prematurely. -As long as we are experiencing something, we must give ourselves over to the experience and close our eyes, and thus, while still in it, not make ourselves already the observer of it. That would, of course, disturb our good digestion of the experience; instead of a bit of wisdom, we would take away a bit of indigestion.
Beautiful! I believe this quote is taken from his unpublished fragments, translated by Gary Handwerk.

It is from Handwerk’s book indeed. The unpublished part begins shortly after this one in the book I have.

Kewl. I’ve been reading through your other Nietzsche quotes. You have a keen eye for picking out the good ones. I bookmarked your site with the intention to revisit from time to time. Your photos are outstanding as well. You also mentioned that you are a boat builder. I am from Newfoundland and have fished in wooden dories, so I can appreciate the craftsmanship of a good boat builder. Furthermore, I used to do a lot of free hand drawing in my youth. Been thinking about picking it up again as a hobby. If you have any beginner level tutorials in sketching boats I’d be happy to give it a try.
Best regards,
Jason
